1. How do I start the TEFL course and make payment?
Simply go to the “Online TEFL” tab on this website and choose your course package.
By clinking on the “Buy Now” button, you will be taken to the secure online PayFast payment site.
Fill in your Email and choose your method of payment.
You can pay via credit / cheque or debit card or direct EFT by all South Africa’s major Banks.
You may also choose to pay direct into our ABSA bank account. Download the pro-forma invoice with our TEFL SA details.
We Offer a payment plan: Pay 50% of the tuition fee and start your online course. 50% + R150 admin fee within 30 days or before certification. E-mail us with your request and we will send you our agreement.
2. What are the requirements to enrol in the TEFL course?
Be a native English speaker or proficient / fluent in the English language.
Have a desire to teach people from other languages and countries to speak English.
Have the ability to produce a good standard of work.
Be an adult over 18 years of age.
No tertiary qualifications are required to enrol in the TEFL course and to apply for many of the ESL jobs.
3. What are the benefits of gaining a TEFL certification ?
A Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) or (TESOL) Teach English as a Second or Other Language, certification is a commonly required qualification for new and experienced teachers who want to teach English to non-English spaekers abroad or online.
With a TEFL /TESOL certification, teachers can:
Qualify for teaching jobs. The minimum requirement to teach abroad or online is a 120-hour TEFL certification. In some countries, a Bachelor’s degree in any field and TEFL certification is required to secure a ESL teaching job.
Gain the skills required to teach abroad. A TEFL course gives you the skills and prepares you to teach the English language in a structured way to different levels of English students, plan lessons, refresh your understanding of English grammar concepts, manage classes and more.
Stand out in job applications. Be prepared when applying for a ESL job. A TEFL certification is a requirement and if you already have one, you will be considered a strong asset and could help set you apart from candidates who are not yet TEFL certified.
4. What will I learn on the TEFL course?

5. How long does it take to complete the TEFL course?
It takes on average 4 weeks to complete the 120-hour online TEFL course. You only really need to study for a few hours a week.
You can complete the 120-hour course in a much shorter time if you want to. Many have completed it in less than 10 days.
However, there is no need to rush as you have up to 6 months access to complete your online TEFL course.
On completion of the course, your unique digital TEFL certificate will be emailed to you in a PDF. A hard-copy certificate for authentication is available on request.
6. What is a Weekend Practical Course?
The Weekend practical course is a face-to-face classroom teacher training course delivered by experienced ESL Teacher Trainers.
Recommended for all new (ESL) English as a Second Language teachers.
The combined TEFL course (120 hours online and 20 hours practical) is the most effective and concise method of learning and practicing teacher skills for your new career.
There is no need to have completed your online TEFL certification and you may book your Weekend Practical Course anytime.
After you complete 2 day course you will gain a “Teaching Practice certificate”
7. What if I dont pass the TEFL course?
Follow our instructions and take your time with each lesson, you will pass the TEFL course.
Our course tutors will do everything to encourage you and provide as much help as possible.
The pass rate is a 70% average of all lesson tests. You take each lesson /module exam once. If you do not pass the course, we will let you take your failed module lessons again.
The 120-hour TEFL / TESOL certificate is awarded on completing and passing all lesson modules.
The practical component is not mandatory. However, we encourage you to take the 2-day weekend practical either as a package (Combined Course) or join later after or during your online course.

8. What is Cambridge ESOL TKT certification?
The Cambridge ESOL (TKT) is an optional test that focuses on the teaching knowledge needed by teachers of primary, secondary or adult learners of English, anywhere in the world. It can increase your confidence and enhance your job prospects.
This is an excellent addition to your TEFL/TESOL certificate course and will greatly enhance your job prospects, confidence and even your salary! You can study online but you must take the Cambridge ESOL exam at authorised centers all over the world. There are over 2,700 centres in 130 countries so you can also take the TKT exam in your home country once you have your TEFL/TESOL certificate.
The cost of the online TKT Prep course Modules 1,2 and 3 is R950 for the digital package and we can send you the course after the you complete your TEFL certification course. The Course is included in the Pro Online Package. The Exam is paid seperatly at the test center of your choice.

12. Cancelations & Refunds
If you are unable to complete the online TEFL course due to valid reasons, we will be happy to extend your completion time if required.
Student who do not complete the course will not be refunded. We want you to succeed teach English abroad or online and we’ll do everything we can to encourage you to complete your course and gain your TEFL certification.
Students who don’t show up to the booked practical Course will not be refunded.
You can reschedule your booked date one time for free, 10 days before your booked date.

14. TEFL Certificate and authentication
On completion of the 120-hour TEFL course you will be awarded your digital certificate that can be download and printed on certificate paper. Your TEFL certificate will be accepted by all reputable employers worldwide.
Each certificate has a unique number that can be verified with the ITO International TEFL Organisation by any ESL employer.
If you are traveling overseas for a TEFL job, it’s important you authenticate your TEFL certificate. A hard copy certificate with an original signature of the TEFL course manager / principal is required to have it authenticated.
You may request this after you complete your course at a cost of R300 delivered to your nearest PostNet in SA. Or pay a courier to anywhere else from South Africa.

In order to authenticate a document which has been signed or originated in South Africa, and which document is required for use outside of South Africa, one has to ask the following question:
Is the country in which the document is to be used a member country of The Hague Convention?
a) Yes, then the document must be certified by a notary public who in turn attaches an Apostille to the document and sends the Apostille for signature by the Registrar of the High Court. This takes 24 hours and this firm charges R 850,00 plus VAT. (Excluding courier costs)
b) No, then after the above process, you would need to personally (or agent) take the document to the authentication department at DIRCO in Pretoria who in turn attaches another Certificate by DIRCO about the signing power of the Registrar of the High Court and the fact that such Registrar is allowed to sign this document in South Africa for use outside of South Africa.
